The National Science & Technology Park at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), has signed an MOA with the OPEN Silicon Valley to support and promote the growth of Pakistani startups at a global level. The agreement was signed between Dr Rizwan Riaz, Pro-Rector RIC (NUST) & VP NSTP, and Junaid Qurashi, President of OPEN Silicon Valley.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate in the areas of Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship, as well as Human Resource Development through upskilling and knowledge sharing. OPEN Silicon Valley will provide mentorship and will also connect selected startups with investors in the valley.
The signing ceremony was attended by Farhan Younas, Raheel Bodla, Umair Shahid, Maria Faheem Qadri, Salman Raza Naqvi, Emmad Ahsan, and other members of NSTP and Open Silicon Valley.
The National Science & Technology Park is the first fully integrated science and technology park (STP) and the first STP and Hi-Tech SEZ in Pakistan, established by NUST University. Since its inception, the park has housed 10 MNCs and 100+ SMEs and Startups including ABB, Hytera, Turkish Aerospace, Priceoye, Rapidev, Hitit, HATO Agricultural Lighting, and Rapid Silicon.
The Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN) is a global network of entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals, which consists of chapters all around the world in 13 cities ranging from Silicon Valley, New York, London, and Islamabad. OPEN provides a platform for entrepreneurs and investors to network, collaborate, and mentor each other in developing businesses and laying the foundation of entrepreneurship in various fields.
