HealthTech:

Health tech is defined by the World Health Organisation as the “application of organised knowledge and skills in the form of devices, medicines, vaccines, procedures and systems developed to solve a health problem and improve quality of lives.”

The Health Tech theme at NSTP will contain companies focused on research areas of Hospital Management, Patient Care, Genomics, Surgical Robotics, Telehealth, Mobile Health Apps, Online Health Services, Digital Medical Devices, Remote Monitoring, etc.

Extensive research is being carried out at NUST in the health sector. The Medical Devices Development Centre (MDDC) at NUST has successfully developed cardiac stents for the first time in Pakistan.  NUST has developed an Automated Tele-Micromanipulator Cell Injection System, SMART Sim™ a Virtual-Reality Laparoscopic Surgical Trainer, for surgeons to learn the skills required in Minimal Invasive Surgery and Prosthetic Knee-Joint.
