A team from the National Science and Technology Park and NUST Placement office visited the Military College of Engineering NUST, Risalpur Campus on 10th May 2022.
Dean of the College, Dr. Muhammad Irfan received the guests therein.
The purpose of the visit was to hold an awareness session regarding the world of innovation and the pivotal role that NSTP has been playing in the startup ecosystem of the country.
The presentation was opened by Zayn N. Qureshi, Manager Marketing & Partnership at NSTP. While sharing industry trends with students, he said, “The venture capital landscape in Pakistan has been growing at an incredible pace and it’s set to continue doing so. In 2021, Pakistani startups collectively raised a record of $365M, which was not only 450 per cent higher than the $66.44M raised in 2020 but also more than the amount raised in all previous years combined. The number of deals also jumped to 82 from 49 the year before, witnessing a surge of 67pc.”
Highlighting the importance of NSTP to the students, Director NSTP Dr. Salman Raza Naqvi said that alongside being the nurturing home to many companies, NSTP also is a space for students to showcase their skills, as well as polish them. This not only involves that in the field of technology, but any mere contribution that can help bring about innovation.
At the end of the presentation, Mr Yaruq Nadeem shared insights on how students can get involved with NSTP.
After NSTP session on innovation from NSTP, the team NPO gave an interactive session on job placement and changing industry requirements for stem jobs.
The Commandant thanked the guests for their time as well as quality information handed out to the students, as suiting the need of the time.
